Start document workflows from MES and ERP
A production order in MES, an ERP process, or a custom application can start the relevant output workflow. The public Output Service API connects these applications to the Output Suite output workflow. People continue to use their established interface.
From output options to result files
Integration can follow a clear sequence:
- Request output options: The application receives the choices intended for the process context.
- Create and start the job: Documents or PLM context and selected options are associated with the job; processing is then started.
- Follow status: The application queries the job status and presents it within its own workflow.
- Retrieve results: The intended files are downloaded and used in the next step.
Document processing becomes part of the existing business process rather than requiring an additional interface.
Aligned with your business case
The options shown, the documents included, and how results are used are defined for the particular integration. The same central service can support different enterprise applications.
The API provides the job functions. The connection to your specific MES or ERP system is implemented in that application’s context.
A shared view of the job
The job identifier connects the initiating application to status and result files. Output Tracker adds a browser-based view when needed. A request from the enterprise application can also be located in the central job overview.
Access, job initiation, and behaviour when connections are interrupted are agreed during integration and tested with representative requests.
